HCLSoftware to Acquire Zeenea in Strategic Move to Boost Data Management Capabilities

HCLSoftware, the software division of HCLTech, has announced its acquisition of Zeenea, a French company specializing in data catalog and governance solutions, for €24 million. The deal, set to close in September 2024, is part of HCLSoftware's strategy to enhance its Data & Analytics business, particularly the Actian Data Platform, which has seen substantial growth in hybrid data management.

Founded in 2017, Zeenea has developed an intelligent data discovery platform that supports metadata management, data cataloging, governance, and compliance. HCLSoftware aims to integrate Zeenea’s technology to offer a unified data intelligence solution, accelerating data engineering and GenAI initiatives.

Kalyan Kumar, Chief Product Officer at HCLSoftware, emphasized the critical role of metadata management in today's business landscape. Marc Potter, CEO of Actian, noted that Zeenea’s capabilities would provide a comprehensive, single-vendor data management solution. Luc Legardeur, CEO of Zeenea, expressed confidence in the synergy between the two companies.
