Google Launches Gemini AI in India, Supporting Nine Languages

Google has introduced its Gemini AI app in India, offering support for nine local languages: Hindi, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu. Previously known as Bard, the AI chatbot was rebranded as Gemini in February and now features a dedicated app.

The Gemini AI is being integrated into Google Messages in India, enabling users to draft messages, brainstorm ideas, and plan events directly within the app. Initially, this feature will be available only in English and on select devices. Google is deploying the Gemini 1.5 Pro language model in India, capable of processing up to 1 million tokens, handling extensive inputs such as long documents (up to 1,500 pages) and hours of video content.

However, Indian users will need to wait about four months for the standalone Gemini app, which will enhance the chatbot's convenience. Initially, Gemini in Google Messages will be available exclusively on select Pixel and flagship Samsung devices.
